Stevanna "Stevie" (Soroka) Lis

Stevanna 'Stevie' (Soroka) Lis Hopewell Township Stevanna "Stevie" (Soroka) Lis, 93, better known as "Bubba" by her loving grandchildren, went to be with the Lord on November 29, 2017, in her home surrounded by her loving children. Stevie and her late husband Mike enjoyed a wealth of friendships, loved to entertain and were quite impressive on the dance floor. Later in life, Stevie continued a wonderful social life and loved a gathering, sharing hilarious stories and serving her legendary stuffed cabbage, piroghis and apple pies. After a long and beautiful life, her compassion, humor and unwavering faith will be joyously remembered by all who were blessed to come into her life. Born on October 22, 1924, in Belle Vernon, Pa., Stevie was the daughter of Theodore and Irene (Pawlack) Soroka and was seventh in a family of 11 children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Mike J. Lis; daughter, Lana L. Lis; brothers, Mike (Norma) Soroka, Steve (Helen) Soroka and Archpriest Theodore (Matushka Sophia) Soroka; sisters, Eva (Clark) Smith, Augie Soroka, Ann Soroka, Helen (Bill) Gaber Evansky and Irene (Mike) Goresh, and brothers and sisters-in-law, Tony Trona, Ronald Zeli, Mary (Carl) Moskal, Stanley (Pauline) Lis and Sophie (Stanley) Rygalski. Being of Orthodox faith, Stevie was a member of Holy Ghost Orthodox Church. Stevie was once employed by National Electric and Essey Dry Cleaners. She is survived by four loving children, Linda Lis, Stevanna Lis, Michael (Kathryn) Lis and Ted Lis. Stevie also dearly loved her grandchildren, Mike (Lindsay) Lis and Steven Lis, Erica (Jon) Mani and Erin (Eric) Harvey, and great-grandchildren, Corbin, Tegan, Alexander and Eliza. Stevie leaves behind loving sisters, Vera Trona and Martha Zeli; a brother-in-law, Bill Evansky, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family all of whom meant the world to her. Viewing will be Friday, December 1, from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m., followed by Parastas prayer 6:30 to 7 p.m. at ANTHONY MASTROFRANCESCO FUNERAL HOME INC., 2026 McMinn St., Aliquippa, 724-375-0496. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 2. Please meet at the church for a 9:30 a.m. service at Holy Ghost Orthodox Church, 210 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge, PA 15003, with internment at Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Ghost Orthodox Church.
