Stephen Thomas Crnkovich Sr.

Stephen Thomas Crnkovich Sr. Stephen, a resident of Center Township, went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 7th, 2019. He was born on January 30, 1934, in Aliquippa, PA., the beloved son of the late Matthew and Eva (Sorcan) Crnkovich. He attended Logstown Grade School, graduating from Aliquippa High School. A carpenter by trade, he was employed by the J&L Steel (LTV) for 34 years, with membership in Union local 1211. He was a charter member of St. Frances Cabrini R.C. Church in Center Township. He was a lifelong fan of Notre Dame football, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. He celebrated his Croatian Heritage, with membership in Croatian Fraternal Union and Croatian Club of Aliquippa, speaking the language and traveling to Croatia with his family. He was a member of the Sevdah Adult Tamburitzans of Conway, PA, the Irish Club of Beaver County, the Genealogy & History Society of Beaver County, PA, and the Rose Society of Pittsburgh. Stephen is survived by his beloved wife Patricia (O’Connor) Crnkovich of 65 years. He was extremely proud of his family of seven children, Kathryn (Wayne) Crater, Cape Coral Fl, Nancy (Michael) Ayad, Brooklyn, NY, Susan (Paul) Rey, Moon Twp, Mary Beth Santiago, Moon Twp; Joyce (Robert) Smith, Chicago, IL, Karla (John) Dzienkowski, Austin, TX, and Stephen Thomas Crnkovich II and Kathy Schwartz, Center Twp. Also, thirteen grandchildren: Carrie Warner, Amy Black, Andrew Roberts, Paul Patella-Rey, Stephanie Wagner, Matthew, Maria, and Maile Santiago, Christine and Ashley Smith, Alexandra and Katherine Dzienkowski, and Stephen Thomas Crnkovich III, and 14 great-grandchildren. He is survived by two sisters, Anne Jurcic of Center Township, Margaret Ware (Donald) of New Brighton, and in-laws Mary Louise Keefe, Kent, OH, and Lois Jean and George Pannell, Moneta, VA. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sister Barbara Losco, infant sister Katherine Crnkovich, son-in-law Ernie Santiago brother-in-laws Thomas Jurcic, John Keefe and Bernard Losco, sister-in-law Catherine (O’Connor) Rosenlieb,. Family and friends will be received Wednesday 4-8 pm in the Anthony Mastrofrancesco Funeral Home Inc. 2026 McMinn Street 15001 724-375-0496. A service will be conducted on Thursday at 9:30 am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am in St. Frances Cabrini Roman Catholic Church, Center Township, PA. Interment will follow at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, (Daugherty Twp), New Brighton, PA.
