Judith Ann (Lalama) Martin

Judith Ann Lalama Martin left our world on June 7, 2023. She was at home with her daughters by her side. She was born and raised in West Aliquippa and moved to Center Township after she married. There she raised four daughters and when the youngest was finally in school, Judy became active in the community. She joined the Center Civics Woman’s Club which became her creative outlet. She loved working on their craft shows, musicals, and fashion shows. Within a few years, Judy became Vice President, and then President, of the organization. She was also an active member of her church, Mary Queen of Saints, St. Frances Cabrini. Judy was incredibly strong and pleasant. She was also funny. She cracked jokes up until the end and never once complained despite her many health issues. Playing cards, hitting the slots, and eating potato chips were just a few of her favorite things. But the real legacy Judy leaves behind is her devotion to her family. She gave her daughters a wonderful childhood, beautiful memories, and family traditions that they will carry throughout their lives. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Ernie Martin, her parents, Domenic and Kathryn Verbanic Lalama, her sister Catherine (Poochie) Ward, and a son-in-law, Robert Rice. She leaves behind a brother, Domenic (Sue) Lalama. Four daughters: Laurie Rice, Beth Martin Theil (John), Dominique Mendicino (Tony), Lisa Latshaw (Curt). Eight grandchildren: Wesley Rice (Maria), Carley Vernon-Rice (Tim), Dana Oliver (Dom), Chase Barger (Christina), Maura Vetica (Richie), Anthony Mendicino, Curtis Latshaw,, Grace Latshaw, and six great grandchildren. We’d like to thank her amazing caregivers for loving our mother like your own. And to Gallagher Hospice, we are eternally grateful for the outstanding care and love our mother received from you. There’s a quote that goes, “In the end, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you.” Judy smiled up until her last few hours. She touched the lives of those who loved her, and taught, through example, how to be a wonderful mother, wife, sister and friend. She will be sorely missed. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday June 9th, in St. Frances Cabrini Church at 10:00 am. Private Entombment will immediately follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
