Donato Martino

Donato Martino, passed away peacefully surrounded by his devoted family on March 4, 2026. He was 96 years old. Donato leaves a legacy marked by dedication to his family, craftsmanship, and unwavering faith. He was born January 11, 1930, in Caramanico Abruzzi, Italy a son of the late Giovanni and Rosa (DeAngelis) Martino. Donato was preceded in death by several siblings: Antonio Martino, Nicoletta (Martino) Paparella, Maria (Martino) Forlini and Serafino Martino. He was a devoted member of Mary Queen of Saints Parish, St. Frances Cabrini Church. Donato was a skilled stone mason and bricklayer, having worked in Italy, Luxembourg, Canada, and here at home, using his hands to shape homes and communities. Later, he was employed by Westinghouse Electric Corporation. He was also an active member of St. Anthony Congregation, where his faith was a guiding force throughout his life. He participated in church activities and found meaning in serving his community. He delighted in winemaking, gardening, cooking, and playing the accordion. Passions that brought his family together for Sunday dinners and festive gatherings. Donato’s warmth, generosity, and love of tradition created lasting memories. He was a loving husband, proud father, and “TaTa” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy. Donato is survived by his cherished wife of 66 years, Maria (DeFelice) Martino, with whom he built a life filled with love and devotion. They were blessed with four children: Piera (Michael) Masciantonio, JoAnne (Richard) Cianfaglione, Teresa Capelli and Dino Martino (Saul Leon). His family legacy continues with his grandchildren: Richard (Jillian) Cianfaglione, Olivia Cianfaglione, Maria (Jerry) Capelli-Hodak, Michael Masciantonio, Mario Masciantonio, Marco Masciantonio, Anthony Cianfaglione, Ella Capelli and four great grandchildren: Marley, Gabriella, Juliana and Jerry. He also survived by his brother Rocco Martino, numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-4 pm in the Anthony Mastrofrancesco Funeral Home Inc. 2026 McMinn Street, Aliquippa, PA 15001 Family and friends are welcome to attend a mass of Christian burial on Monday at 10:00 am in St. Frances Cabrini Church. Private Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. As we say goodbye, we also celebrate a life of family, faith, and hard work. His legacy lives on through his family, the friendships he nurtured, and the values he imparted. Donato Martino will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
