Alice Mae (Chickering) Hamilton

Alice Mae (Chickering) Hamilton 5/19/1937 – 7/27/2022 Alice Mae (Chickering) Hamilton of Hopewell Twp was called to her eternal home July 27 by the God she loved and faithfully served. Her faith remained vibrant and strong throughout her life. She was born May 19, 1937 in Woodstock, VT to the late Private Franklin B. and Alice M. (Osmer) Chickering. She grew up and attended local schools in Auburn, MA. She married John W. Hamilton on July 6, 1957 and moved to Pennsylvania. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Alice worked at the Hallmark Gift Shop and Giant Eagle before becoming a bus driver for the Hopewell School District for thirty years. Transporting the students with disabilities was her all-time favorite route. Throughout her life she was generous and compassionate towards others. She reached out to families in need with clothing, food, and whatever else she could provide. She was an outstanding friend and had special friends she walked life with for many years – several have noted that she was their “best” friend. Alice was well-known for her cooking and baking – her pies are legendary. She rarely had a holiday dinner that didn’t include someone who would have been alone – and these folks could also be found at her dinner table many evenings throughout the years. She and John enjoyed travelling often to visit family and friends across the country. But she was always happy to come home – she loved her home. She was an active and faithful member of the Crestmont Alliance Church for 40 years and recently Pathway Church, Chippewa / Beaver Falls. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by brothers Kenneth and Franklin Chickering. Alice will be sadly missed by her husband John W. and her children who dearly loved her Anita Hamilton, Norway, ME; Sandra (Craig) Hamilton Slane, Shasta, CA; Duane Hamilton, Buford, GA; and Glenn Hamilton, Hopewell Twp. She will also be missed by her grandchildren Jacob (Chelsea) Hamilton, Eliesa Hamilton, Micaela (Sean) Slane, and Marcus Slane as well as great-grandson Conrad. Sisters-in law whom she loved as sisters Mildred Steinecke and Alice Thompson will also miss her as will many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, August 3 from 3pm-7pm in the Anthony Mastrofrancesco Funeral Home at 2026 McMinn, St. Aliquippa, PA. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 6 at 3:00 at the Pathway Church at 239 Braun Road, Beaver Falls, PA. A private interment will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA. To honor and remember Alice, please reach out to those who are alone or need a friend to care.
