Thomas "Smiley" Mihalik

October 24, 1928 - June 8, 2016

Thomas "Smiley" Mihalik, 87 of Hopewell Twp. went home to be with the Lord on June 8, 2016.He was born October 24, 1928 and was the son of the late John and Anna (Molchan) Mihalik.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife: Helen Jean (Parrish) Mihalik and a brother, John "Ox" Mihalik.Smiley was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving our country in the United States Army as a Sargent.Shortly after his return from the military, he and a partner opened their own business on Sheffield Avenue. Smiley and Crink's where they sold tires. He later built a building and moved his business to Mill Street where Smiley's Tire Shop still operates. Smiley was in business for 63 years and was blessed to watch his company expand to include his sons and grandsons. He later developed a passion for golf.Family was important to Smiley and he cherished when they would all be together for family gatherings.He is survived by his four children: Karen Mihalik and Harold Hampton, Thomas and Tricia Mihalik,Gary and Joyce Ann Mihalik, Jamie and Brook Mihalik all of Independence Twp. Nine grandchildren: Eugenia, Tom, Ben and his fiancée, Ashley, Eli, Lucas, Isabelle, Ryan, Katey and Shannon. Smiley is also survived by two sisters,two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law: Joanne and Jovan Vukmaravich, Aliquippa, Dorothy and Dan Borato, Midland, Barbara Mihalik, Aliquippa and several nieces and nephews.Visitation will be Sunday from 4-8 p.m. in the Anthony Mastrofrancesco Funeral Home Inc. 2026 McMinn Street, Aliquippa 724-375-0496. A service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at John Anderson Cemetery. The Beaver County Special Unit will conduct military honors for Smiley at the cemetery at 12:15.The Mihalik family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to, Sue Beck, Sue Miller and Star Criswell Vincent. These wonderful women took great care of Smiley and our family genuinely appreciated your kindness.
