Margaret "Peggy" (Halama) Prisuta

May 4, 1923 - March 18, 2018

Margaret “Peggy” (Halama) Prisuta,94 formerly of Aliquippa, died peacefully in her sleep in her home On March 18, 2018. We should all be so blessed. Margaret was born in Aliquippa, PA to Mikolay and Martha (Kormanik) Halama. She attended Highland Elementary and Aliquippa High School, participating in many intramural athletics and music. She graduated from Indiana States Teachers College (now Indiana University of Pennsylvania) with a degree in business education. A member of the greatest generation, she lived during the Great Depression, and worked in J & L Steel Mills during the war years. She was s a teacher and homemaker. Although western PA was her home, she resided in Glenside for more than fifty years, where she was a member of St Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Bronko Prisuta., who she married in June 1947. Also preceding her in death were were siblings, Ann Halama and Nikolai (Nick) Halama, nephew Michael Halama and a granddaughter, Mary Katherine Murphy and brother in law Stephen ”Dave “Prisuta. Margaret was an avid sports fan, crossword puzzle worker and enjoyed her times with family and friend at social gatherings. Surviving family members are her children, Robert (Pam) Prisuta, Nancy (Kevin) Murphy and Michael (Diane) Prisuta, grandchildren: Katherine (Dan) Chimera, Dan (Mandy) Prisuta, Mark (Ashley) Murphy, Megan Murphy, Molly Murphy, Anthony Capuzzi, Cayla (Tommy) Dohey and two great-grandchildren, Max Murphy and Liliana Dohey. Other special family members include sister in law Mary Halama, nephew David (Bea Fox) Halama, niece Rosann (Bill) Armor and grand-nephew Nicholas. She was Teta (Aunt) to many extended family members, cousins and friends. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 pm in the Anthony Mastrofrancesco Funeral Home Inc. 2026 McMinn Street, Aliquippa. Funeral services will be Saturday, 11:00 am at St Elijah Orthodox Church with Father Branislov Golic. Please meet at the church. Interment will follow at St. Elijah Cemetery. If you choose to honor her with a contribution, please donate to Abington Library, St Nicholas Church, Elkins Park, or St Vladimir’s Orthodox Seminary in Yonkers NY. Pomen (Blessing Service) will be Friday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home.
