Louis Francalancia

November 9, 1923 - April 24, 2016

Louis Francalancia, 92, of Hopewell Township, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016, at Heritage Valley Beaver. Francalancia was a longtime tailor, known for running his eponymous Lou the Tailor shop in New Brighton for 50 years. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II. "Lou" was an extremely devoted family man with an endless amount of love to give to family and friends. He was an accomplished horseplayer, and could often be seen going through the racing forms at Mountaineer Park. Born November 9, 1923, in Toro, Campobasso, Italy, a son of the late Nicola Francalancia and Maria Francalancia (Cutrona). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Michael and Carmen Francalancia, and his sisters, Josephine Fazio and Antoinette Lamenta. He is survived by his spouse: Assunta Lena Francalancia (Rossi), sister: Ida DiNardo, sister-in-law Nina Francalancia, son: Nick and daughter-in-law Loretta Francalancia, daughter: Johanna and son-in-law Edward Dzikiy, granddaughter: Nicole Cutshall and her spouse Patrick Cutshall, grandson: Philip Dzikiy and his spouse Lynn Kwon-Dzikiy, grandson: Mark Dzikiy and his spouse Jeanine Dzikiy, grandsons: John and Luke Dzikiy, great grandchildren Payton, Avery, and Colby Cutshall, and Jonah Dzikiy, nephews Nick Fazio, John, Nick, Michael, and Daniel DiNardo, Nicola and Anthony Francalancia, Guiseppe Rossi, and Nicola Lamenta, and nieces Gina Rossi, Marietta Colette, and Rita Cerbo. Visitations will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Mastrofrancesco Funeral Home, 2026 McMinn St., Aliquippa. A blessing service will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Father Howard Campbell. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Aliquippa.
