Leona "Lee" (Danko) Fisher

September 9, 1945 - March 9, 2018

On March 9, 2018, our devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Sister, Leona“Lee” (Danko) Fisher passed from the arms of her loving family into the arms of our Lord after a brave battle with an aggressive cancer. She will be welcomed in heaven by her daughter and special angel Amy Jo,who she lovingly took care of until her death on March 31, 2015. Lee was born September 9, 1945 in Sewickley, PA and was the daughter of the late Michael and Josephine (Dettor) Danko. She graduated from Aliquippa High School in 1963, where she was crowned Laurel Queen and May Queen. She graduated from Robert Morris Business School before starting her career at St. Joe Lead. After thirteen years of being a full-time stay-at-home mom, Lee went to work for USAir in the Flight Training Department. During her time there, she not only excelled in her responsibilities, but also forged lasting friendships and memories especially with her pilots and coworkers. She was a faithful member of St. Frances Cabrini Roman Catholic Church. Lee’s life centered around her large family for whom she loved hosting holiday gatherings where she carried on many traditional Italian family recipes. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gary Fisher. Lee and Gary met years ago at the Rochester Legion dances. Their common love of dancing to the oldies continued throughout their married life, creating friendships. In addition to her husband, Lee is survived by her children: Michael and his wife Michelle, and Melissa Woodward and her husband Keith. Leona loved being a grandmother and will be sadly missed by her cherished granddaughters Mara and Ava Fisher; and grandsons Harris, Fisher and Tate Woodward. Lee is also survived by sisters: Linda Baker and family; Christine Persson and family; brother-in-law Ronald (Ruth Ann) Fisher and family; and many loving cousins and friends. The Fisher family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to our dear cousin Regina Watt; lifelong friend Jim Buncy; and the staff at Good Samaritan Hospice, especially Peggy, for their grace and support. May God Bless You! Friends will be received Sunday from 4 to 8 pm at the Anthony Mastrofrancesco Funeral Home Inc.2026 McMinn Street, Aliquippa 15001 724-375-0496. Departing prayers will begin Monday at 10:00 am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 am at St. Francis Cabrini Church with Father Martin Bartel, O.S.B. Entombment will follow Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to McGuire Memorial Foundation or Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley Beaver. A parish vigil service will be held at 3:45 pm Sunday in the funeral home.
