February 23, 1933 - December 13, 2020
Josephine “Josie” (Canavesi) Agostine, 87, of Aliquippa passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on December 13, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Josie was born February 23, 1933 in New Galilee and was the daughter of the late Enrico and Angelina (Zaffaroni) Canavesi. In 1959, Josie married her husband, Red, and moved to Aliquippa where they raised their four children. She was a member of St. Titus Roman Catholic Church and worked for 24 years at Friendly Federal Credit Union, where she helped many members with sound, no-nonsense financial advice. Her immaculate home was open to all. The memories of many social gatherings, card-playing marathons and holidays are held dear to all who enjoyed the warmth of her home and the indulgence of her amazing food. Josie’s classic beauty, impeccable style, open-door hospitality and loving heart will be missed by all. Josie is survived by her children, Lisa (David) Olack, NC; Larry Agostine, OH; Lynn (Walley) Nero, Aliquippa and Lori (P.J.) Novak, SC.; her six grandchildren, Ashton (Jeremy) Aimi, Kristina Olack, Gregory and Benjamin Nero, Ty and Olivia Novak and two great-grandchildren, Emma and Landon Aimi. She is also survived by a sister Norma Boyle and numerous, admiring nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lawrence “Red” Agostine, as well as sister, Evelyn Daub and brother, Harry Canavesi; in-laws Alice (John) Fidele, Delia Agostine, Emily (George) Hrubovcak, Bob Boyle, Bob Daub, Laura Canavesi, and nieces Denise Pisano and Imogene Gray; nephew Michael Hawk. Special thanks to the 2 nd floor memory care team at Tapestry Senior Living Moon Township and Kindred Hospice for their strength, support and care of Josie, especially during her final hours. You are amazing, caring people. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 pm in the Anthony Mastrofrancesco Funeral Home Inc. 2026 McMinn Street, Aliquippa 15001 724-375-0496. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at St. Titus Church. Mass participants are asked to go directly to the church on Saturday. Josie will be laid to rest at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can made in Josie’s memory to B.F.
