Gregory G. "Yudy" Kalidonis Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Gregory G."Yudy" Kalidonis, passed away Wednesday evening February 24, 2016 surrounded by his family. Yudy is survived by wife of 68 yrs. Marie (Catroppa) Kalidonis, daughter Pamela (Scott) Jacobs, sons Gregory (Kathleen) and Kevin (Victoria) Kalidonis. Grandchildren: Michele (Edward) Yacopino, Gregory (Leighanna) Jacobs, Peter (Stacey) and Adam (Jacqueline) Kalidonis, Sara (Roy) Faust, Sean Kalidonis. Great grandchildren: Nicholas and Marie Yacopino, Reese, Jordan, Alaina and Teagan Jacobs, Jude and Sadie Kalidonis and Georgia Faust. Special nieces: Janice (George) Bobich and Joyce (Robert) Santia, Yvonne Catroppa. Great nieces and nephews: Kristine (Brian) McCloskey, Robert Santia, JoJo and Frankie Catroppa and Mia and Phillip Bobich. Great- great niece; Amelia McCloskey. His grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews were his pride and joy. He survived several other nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two sisters: Stella Harvan and Josephine Matko. Yudy was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Pete and Amelia Catroppa. Brother in-law and sister-in-law: Joseph and Florence Catroppa and a nephew, Joseph Catroppa. His parents George and Alice Kalidonis, a brother John Kalidonis and a sister Kaleopy Poutous.Yudy served in the Navy as a member of the Seabees and was a retired pipe fitter with J&L Steel. He was a member of St. Titus Church and the Celtic Red Athletic Club. He was also inducted into the Beaver County Softball Hall of Fame in 1990.Yudy was an avid sports fan, especially Aliquippa High School teams. He coached football and basketball for many of the Aliquippa teams over the years as well as playing. He also enjoyed golf until the age of 87. He especially enjoyed watching his sons, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren play. After he retired Yudy also enjoyed his morning coffee and working crossword puzzles at Roland?s Auto repair (formerly owned and operated by James Mansueti) with many of his life-long friends.Visitation will be Sunday 1-4 & 6-8 p.m. in the Anthony Mastrofrancesco Funeral Home Inc. 2026 McMinn Street, Aliquippa 724-375-0496. Departing prayers will begin on Monday at 9:00 am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 in St. Titus Church with Father Paul Householder. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The Beaver County Special Unit will conduct military honors at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m.
