George J. Furman, (Poppy), 85, of Kittanning, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021, in Mercy Hospital with family by his side. He was born October 6, 1935, in Pittsburgh to the late John and Mary (Bolek) Furman. He grew up on the North Side, married his high school sweetheart, Ginger, served in the Army, worked hard for many years providing for his family, and moved to Armstrong County to retire. He loved baseball, animals, birds, his boxer dogs, and anything outdoors. He loved people and loved to make people laugh. His sense of humor was loved by all. Poppy leaves behind his love of 63 years, Ginger (Zurcher); his children George Furman, Jr. (Mary); Gwen Kelley, Gail Frack (Gordon); grandchildren Chris Kelley, Jacob Furman, Jess Bennett, Ginger Baker, Lindsay Furman, Gordon Frack, Abby Furman, and Dyane Dick; and his great-grandchildren, Charlie, Aubryn, and Ruthie. He will be greatly missed. Poppy became a believer in JESUS as his Savior at the age of 58 and began to follow JESUS. He joined Allegheny Center Alliance Church in 1994 and loved his church family dearly. Due to Covid-19, the immediate family will have a memorial service to honor his life and celebrate his eternal salvation with JESUS Christ privately.
