Assunta Francalancia
August 10, 1926 - August 16, 2021
Assunta “Lena” Francalancia, 95, formerly of Hopewell Twp. passed away with her loving family by her side on August 16, 2021. She was born on August 10, 1926, in Toro, Province of Campobasso, Italy, to the late Giovanni and Maria Nicola Rossi. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Francalancia, her brother, Philip and her sister, Gina. Lena was a devoted member of Mary Queen of Saints (Our Lady of Fatima Church). She was a loving homemaker and a self-taught expert at sewing and cooking. She was both a gifted seamstress and an excellent cook who always made meals for her family. Her unrivaled homemade lasagna and pizza, in particular, blessed all those who were lucky enough to taste them. Although Lena had many skills, she took the most pride in being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Lena did more than babysit — she spent much of her life helping raise generations of her family. She was a constant loving presence and she will be deeply missed. Left behind to cherish her memory is her loving family, her son and daughter-in-law, Nick and Loretta Francalancia. Her daughter and son-in-law, Johanna and Ed Dzikiy. Grandchildren, Nicole (Patrick) Cutshall, Philip (Lynn) Dzikiy, Mark (Jeanine) Dzikiy, John Dzikiy, and Luke Dzikiy. Great-grandchildren, Payton, Avery, and Colby Cutshall, and Jonah Dzikiy. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and many loving family members in Italy. Lena was laid to rest at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
