Joseph "Jody" Traficante

Joseph "Jody" Traficante, affectionately known as "Pappy," passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. He fought with unwavering strength, determination, and a true “Never Give Up” spirit throughout his life. Even in his final days, his courage, resilience, and love for his family never wavered. Though our hearts are broken, we find peace knowing he was wholly embraced by those who loved him most. A proud Pittsburgh native, Jody was born to the late John Traficante and Lorraine Martinelli. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-brothers, John Traficante and Michael Traficante. Jody was the beloved husband and soulmate of Carina (Aulicino) Traficante. High School Sweethearts, they shared an extraordinary love story spanning 50 years together and 44 years of marriage, celebrating their anniversary on July 10th. Their marriage was built on unwavering love, friendship, devotion, and countless cherished memories. Jody was the proud and loving father of daughter Thalina (Traficante) Gudson and her husband, MSgt. Jonathan Michael Gudson, and his son, his “Comp,” his best friend, Joseph Jason Traficante, and his fiancée, Cecelia Ullom. Nothing brought Jody greater joy than being "Pappy" to his three beloved grandchildren, Noah Paul, Ola Grace, and Jona Doris Gudson, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his sister, Michele Traficante; his nephew, Timothy Joyce; his half-brother, Jamie Traficante; and many cousins whom he loved dearly. Jody never met a stranger. Friends with many and loved by all, he possessed a generous heart and a larger-than-life personality. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer encouragement, or brighten someone's day. Whether helping a neighbor, surprising a stranger with an act of kindness, or simply making everyone around him smile, Jody's thoughtfulness and generosity touched countless lives. He was truly one of a kind—a born entertainer with infectious energy who loved making people laugh, especially children. A kid at heart himself, Jody could light up any room with his humor, playful spirit, and unforgettable personality. Music was always close to his heart. He loved to jam on the harmonica and guitar with his son and their friends, creating memories filled with laughter, great tunes, and togetherness. Wherever music played, Jody was sure to be on the dance floor, showing off his moves and bringing everyone along for the fun. He was, without question, the life of every party. As a younger man, he played ice hockey at Schenley Park, carrying his competitive spirit and love for life into everything he did. He even drove the Zamboni. He was always adventurous, and learned every street in Pittsburgh by riding his bicycle throughout the city he loved, and he remained a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins. A dedicated and hardworking man, Jody spent many years providing for his family, ensuring his children had every opportunity for a bright future. Throughout his career, he formed lifelong friendships with his work brothers from PWSA, PPG Paints Arena, PNC Park, Heinz Field, and the Petersen Events Center—friendships he treasured. Following retirement, Jody and Carina made their home in the Beaver County area to be closer to their cherished grandchildren. Retirement never slowed him down. He was always busy tinkering, fixing something around the house, improving the yard, or tackling another project. For more than 20 years, he also enjoyed making memories at Hart's Content Campground, where fellow campers affectionately nicknamed him "Gadget" because of his endless collection of clever gadgets and tricks. His campground family will miss him dearly. Above all else, Jody was the heart of his family. His family meant everything to him, and there was nothing he wouldn't do for those he loved. He adored his wife, was endlessly proud of his children, and found his greatest happiness in his role as Pappy to his grandchildren. His home was always filled with laughter, music, stories, and the comforting knowledge that family and friends were always welcome. Whether he was fixing something, telling a joke, playing a tune on his harmonica or guitar, or dancing without a care in the world, Jody had a remarkable gift for making ordinary moments unforgettable. Jody's kindness, laughter, generosity, and unforgettable spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the memories he created, and the love he gave so freely. While we will never truly recover from this monumental loss of such an extraordinary man, we know his spirit will continue to surround us— in every family gathering, every song, every laugh, and every cherished memory. He will come back to us, just as he said he would, “In Full Effect,” until the day we meet again. Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family would be sincerely grateful for memorial donations made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses. Every act of kindness though, whether through a donation, a prayer, or simply sharing a cherished memory of Jody, is deeply appreciated by the family.
