Frank Prograr Jr.

Frank Progar Jr. of Raccoon Township passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Beaver Valley Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Born on May 25, 1944, in Rochester, he was the son of the late Frank, Sr and Anna (Yaklich) Progar. Frank’s family and friends will miss his ever present smile that lifted all our spirits. Frank was retired from AES, where he was boiler house operator. He was a member of St. Titus Roman Catholic Church where he will be sorely missed for his many years making perogies and helping with fundraising dinners. People will tell you he was the best dishwasher in town. Frank served the church as a Eucharistic Minister. Frank was member of the United States Army and the American Legion Post 580. Frank had many things he loved to do. He was always busy, whether it was mowing the lawn, taking care of his garden or working in his barn, he enjoyed his retirement to the fullest. Frank loved his cabin in Tidioute and was a member of the VFW there, as well. Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Karen. Frank is also survived by his three children, Kim (Ken) Hardin, Louann Progar and Frank (Julie) Progar, his grandchildren, Franklin Ihle, Nicole Nadzam, and Joshua and Connor Progar. Frank also leaves to mourn, his sister, Karen Progar, sister-in-law, Louann (Roy) Meisinger, his aunt, Catherine Progar, three nephews; Alan (Jean) Palmieri, Daniel (Michelle) Palmieri and Nathan (Carrie) Palmieri. Frank also has many cherished cousins with whom he loved to spend time. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his sister, Judith (Progar) Palmieri. The family wants to thank Frank’s life- long friend, Ed Prince and cherished friends, Ron Roland and Stan Antkiewicz. for their support throughout Frank’s long illness. The family appreciates the efforts of his doctors, Agha, Sheemer and Lancaster, as well as the staff of the Hillman Cancer Center. Special thanks as well to the staff of Beaver Valley for their compassion and care. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the Anthony Mastrofrancesco Funeral Home Inc. 2026 McMinn Street, Aliquippa, 15001 724-375-0496. Departing prayers will begin Wednesday at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am at St. Titus Church with Fr. Paul Householder officiating. Private interment will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Full military honors will be provided by the Beaver County Special Unit at 11:00 am at St. Titus Church.
