Josephine "Jay" (Dettor) Danko

On June 22, 2016 Our Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Josephine "Jay" (Dettor) Danko passed from the arms of her loving family into the arms of our Lord.She was born June 3, 1920 in Herminie, PA and was the daughter of the late Tomaso and Angela Maria (Egidi) Dettor. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband Michael Danko, her precious granddaughter and angel: Amy Jo Fisher, three sisters: Regina Dettor, Viola (Albert) Barletta, Lillian (Walter) Salvati, a brother: Leo Dettor and a sister-in-law: Myrtle Dettor.Jay was a member of St. Titus Roman Catholic Church and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. Jay and "Dank" loved to dance. Well into their 70's they still enjoyed dancing and sought places to go dance with their friends. In addition to dancing Jay and her husband were avid card players. They shared their enthusiasm with their family mostly playing pinochle and five hundred bid. Her family was the center of her being. Jay was an excellent cook and baker. She warmly hosted Sunday and holiday dinners for her family to enjoy. She is survived by three devoted daughters: Leona "Lee" and Gary Fisher, Center Twp., Linda Baker, Beaver and Christine Persson, Coraopolis, seven grandchildren and their spouses: Michael and Michelle, Melissa and Keith, Cassandra and Brodie, Alesha and Michael, Nicole and Rob, Thomas and Brita. Jay was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by, one brother Robert Dettor, two dear nieces: Regina Watt and Joyce Barletta. Several other nieces, nephews, cousins and a former son-in-law: Carl Baker, who remained close to Jay.Visitation will be Sunday from 4-7 p.m. in the Anthony Mastrofrancesco Funeral Home Inc. 2026 McMinn Street, Aliquippa 724-375-0496. Departing prayers will begin at 9:00 a.m. Monday in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Titus Church with Father Paul Householder. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.The Danko family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Beaver Meadows for the loving care that was extended to Jay while she was in their care and the compassion and kindness that was extended to her family.In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Jay to Saint Titus Church in memory of Jay or the Alzheimer's Association in memory of her husband Michael.As we say good bye to the Matriarch of our family we take comfort knowing Jay was reunited with her life's dance partner and beloved husband, "Dank". We are sure if we are quiet and listen we will hear Glen Miller playing and the laughter of their reunion.
